
The National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology Level 1 is an introductory qualification that has been developed for secondary school students interested in mechanical engineering or wishing to pursue careers in maintenance and general engineering, marine and fabrication engineering or machining and toolmaking.
This qualification is made up of four Level 1 Unit Standards intended to provide students with a well balanced, practical course that combines the following basic skills and knowledge:
The four core units total 24 credits towards the final qualification. 16 additional credits from NCEA or other elective unit standards can be used to complete the 40 credits from NCEA credits required for the National Certificate.
