Prerequisite – 14 Science Level 1 Achievement Standard credits; including one Biology Paper and a maximum of 4 internal credits.
Achievement in English – Transactional Writing
Students will investigate and develop an understanding of:
• the diversity, structures, functions and interactions of living organisms and their interactions with the environment genetics and evolution
• interaction between humans and their environment and how these are influenced by developments on biological knowledge and technology.
Students will learn through a mixture of theory and experimental lessons, as well as through fieldwork.
This subject leads to Level 3 Biology. It is important for any individual intending to follow a science related career.

Prerequisites – 9 Achievement Standards in level 2 Biology (a maximum of 3 internal credits)
Achievement in Transactional Writing in English Level 2
Students will investigate and develop an understanding of:
• the ecological niche of an organism
• animal and plant behaviour in relation to environmental factors
• gene expression
• general patterns of evolution
• application of biological techniques to meet human needs and demands
• trends in human biological and cultural evolution
Students will learn through a mixture of theory and experimental lessons, as well as through fieldwork.
This subject is important for any individual intending to follow a science related career pathway e.g health sciences, veterinary science, forensic science, nursing etc.
