Year 13

Qualification – Students will study and be assessed against 21 credits for the NCEA at Level 3.

Prerequisite – A student studying Year 12 Physical Education in 2007 would be expected to gain achievement or better in Achievement Standards 90433, 90434 and 90436. This is five out of the eight achievement standards in the Year 12 course. In addition a strong performance in a Year 12 Science subject would be beneficial and a genuine interest in sport and physical activity accompanied with a good level of fitness would be expected.

The content of the course is approximately 50% practical and 50% classroom based using a variety of teaching methods. Some time beyond the classroom will be required for trips and field work. Activities completed will be drawn from rock climbing, kayaking, running an event for others, examining trends in physical activity in New Zealand etc. Final decisions will be made when students are enrolled.

Cost – With the inclusion of outdoor trips a cost of approximately $300 will be spread across the year.
